Partnership for the San Joaquin Valley

“The San Joaquin Valley is the number one agricultural area in the world, but we can diversify the economy and make it even stronger.”

- Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger
October 26, 2006

Composed of eight state government members, eight local government members and eight private sector members, Governor Schwarzenegger created the California Partnership for the San Joaquin Valley in June 2005. The Partnership’s mission is to work together to recommend policy recommendations that would improve the economic well-being of the Valley and the quality of life for its residents.

The California Labor & Workforce Development Agency is an active state agency partner along with the California Department of Food & Agriculture, California Environmental Protection Agency, California Health & Human Services, State & Consumer Services Agency, Office of the Secretary of Education, Resources Agency and led by the Business, Transportation & Housing Agency. The Partnership delivered a report of recommendations and a strategic plan for implementation to the Governor in October 2006.
