California Heat Safety

“It is critical that employees working outdoors like farm workers, highway workers, landscapers and construction workers drink plenty of water and take rest breaks in the shade. Our heat illness prevention regulations have made California a national leader for workplace standards for heat illness prevention and treatment.”

California’s hot, summer days are upon us. Governor Schwarzenegger is tasking state agencies to assist all Californians with heat safety and heat illness prevention. Cal/OSHA created a webpage full of heat illness prevention resources for both workers and business owners. Learn how to recognize the symptoms, what to do if you become sick from working in outdoor heat, how to train supervisors in prevention and response, and more.
Visit Cal/OSHA’s webpage for more information and guidelines to help prevent heat illness during our hot, summer days.
In addition, visit the Governor’s Web site for information and assistance in all state efforts to help reduce the number of heat-related injuries and illnesses during California’s summer months.
